The remembrances section of the web page has recently been updated. It now includes a short video of Admiral James Holloway sharing some of his memories from the Battle of Surigao Strait aboard USS Bennion. At the time, Admiral Holloway was a young gunnery officer on board the ship. He recalls his very brief but significant service about Bennion which was just the beginning of his illustrious military. It was during this battle that Bennion launched five torpedoes, helping to sink the powerful Japanese battleship Yamashiro. Holloway provides even more detail in a piece published by Naval History Magazine and available to read here. For other memories about the Bennion and her service in World War II, visit the remembrances page. If you have anything to add, let us know.
